Are we saved by our Works?
What is works? Work is the energy needed to apply force to move an object to a particular distance. Power is the rate which work is done. Did we have the energy to remove the sin from our hearts? No. Do we have the power to even do it at the rate it will need to be done to remove it all? Again ,no. Ephesians 1:8,9. For by grace are ye saved through faith; And that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Let's define what grace is.. unmerited favor, not deserved or merited. It is God's undeserved kindness that He shows through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world. Faith is a simple trust that clings to God's grace, holding Him to His promise of salvation in Christ. Faith is what we can't see, but we trust or believe in it. For example gravity is what's holding you down on earth everyday. It's keeping you at a comfortable distance to enjoy the sunlight and warmth. It holds down the atmosphere and the air we need to breathe. Can you see air? No but you breathe it everyday. You can feel air. You can see it move the trees as it sways it back and forth. Hence, we cannot see God but we see His creation, the trees, the animals, humans. We believe that God is alive by faith just like we believe in the air we breathe in our nostrils everyday.
A gift is free. Many just got Christmas gifts. Someone gave you a gift that you didn't even ask for, let alone pay for it. It was free. All you had to do was to hold out your hands and receive it. Romans 10: 9.10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Thank you Lynette Farmer. That was explained in a nutshell. Very good! Thank you for participating in my blog. I appreciate it😍
Salvation is free, if we had to work for it then we would think we did something in our own strength. If we did it in our own strength, what would we need Jesus for? So, God makes salvation free, through the accepted work of Christ on the cross. He makes it so simple that anyone can understand it and receive it. Because it is so simple, sometimes the highly intelligent struggle with accepting it and believing it.
Verlyn Williams of St Louis Missouri wrote Ephesians 2:8,9. To me means salvation is purely and totally a gift from God. God provides the faith.
Valerie Brantley of Long Beach, California wrote Only by faith are we saved by God! Man has no right claim that any single thing is done by his own works because that is untrue. So it is also untruth to claim the rights of things being done by man and excluding the creator and then brag about it. God is a Jealous God and is God all by Himself!
Missy Hughes Smith of St Louis Missouri wrote Ephesians 2:8,9. Speaks of the (spiritually dead or made alive) when someone gives you a gift how do you respond? Do you respond with, *that's nice, how much do I owe you? No, the best way to respond is, "thank you!" God gave us a gift and we should respond with a "thank you" No other way but, "thank you. We as Christians cannot work our way to God, it is impossible! Nobody can. Even though our salvation and faith is a gift. The appropriate way to respond is, *yes!" And with a gratitude of praise and joy!. O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is worthy to be praised! Be grateful…
